Created for my sister’s Tough Mudder team, this shirt design took the classic Jolly Roger pirate motif and gave it a more ornate twist. The front keeps things simple with a hand-drawn skull-and-bones beneath the team name, while the back amps up the detail—a decorative skull framed by scrolling flourishes and red accents that add a subtle spark of intensity.
As with many client-influenced projects, the final direction evolved from my original vision, but the end result balanced clean layout and personality well. It carried that rugged, rebellious energy that fit the event perfectly—something that felt equally at home in the mud or on the podium.
Reflection:
This one’s a reminder of how collaboration shapes design—sometimes the best outcome isn’t your first instinct, but the one that brings everyone’s ideas together.
