This logo was designed for a friend to use as a watermark across her photography and artwork. The name Psychological Bicycle came from a previous creative brand she had built with friends, and it immediately evoked a sense of curiosity and playfulness that I wanted to carry through the design.
The concept draws inspiration from hypnotic swirl patterns, reminiscent of spinning bicycle wheels and classic optical illusions. The goal was to find a balance between clever symbolism and simplicity, ensuring it would remain legible and versatile when used as a watermark or small-scale signature mark.
Using a limited purple-and-black palette, I leaned into the surreal quality of the name, creating something that feels imaginative, eccentric, and slightly mind-bending, while still being clean and functional for real-world application. The typography adds a whimsical twist, enhancing the personality of the logo without overpowering the central bicycle mark.
Reflection:
This design is a reminder that sometimes the simplest concepts are the strongest. By focusing on one clever visual metaphor, hypnotic wheels as a psychological motif, the final result delivers both clarity and character. It’s a piece that showcases how even minimal marks can tell a story when the symbolism is well chosen.
