Poké Ball Splatter Collection started as an experiment in taking something instantly recognizable and pushing it in a more textured, energetic direction.
Each piece is based on the core shape of a different Poké Ball, including the Poké Ball, Great Ball, Ultra Ball, Master Ball, Premier Ball, and Cherish Ball. The goal was to strip each one down to its most recognizable forms, then bring it back with splatter textures that add motion, impact, and a more aggressive visual feel without losing what makes each design easy to identify.
As the project grew, it turned into a full six-piece series. Each design works on its own as an individual print, but together they were built to function as a collection with a consistent look and structure. From there, I also adapted the artwork into apparel applications to see how the same system could translate across different formats.
What I like about this project is the balance between something familiar and something more modern. It takes a really recognizable piece of pop culture and reworks it into something more graphic, textured, and contemporary while still keeping the original identity intact.
