Phoenix Raceway Helmet Decals was created as part of a new racing season initiative while I was working at azpro.
This project was a mix of brand design and production problem-solving. The main challenge was building decal artwork for a curved helmet surface, where a flat design would not naturally line up or wrap correctly.
Using photo references and real-world measurements, I created a custom vector template to map out the helmet shape and decal placement. That gave me a working structure for testing the design, adjusting the curves, and making sure the final artwork could wrap cleanly without awkward distortion.
I explored multiple design directions using the Phoenix Raceway logo, brand colors, and motion-inspired striping. The final direction used turquoise, yellow, and black to create a fast, high-contrast look that tied back to the energy of Arizona racing and stayed visible on track.
The final result was a helmet decal system that needed to look good in mockups, work with the Phoenix Raceway brand, and hold up as real production artwork.
