This project was created for my eldest sister, who needed help designing a flyer for a CSULB Graduate Business Association event featuring David M. Gross, author of Fast Company: A Memoir of Life, Love, and Motorcycles in Italy. Their original designer was unavailable due to finals, so I stepped in to create a clean, professional, and thematic layout on short notice.
The visual direction centered around the concept of “The Fast Lane” — both metaphorically and literally. I incorporated roadway motifs, including a dotted directional line to lead the viewer’s eye through the hierarchy of information, mirroring the motion and rhythm of a highway. The “One Way” road sign and motorcycle graphic reinforced the event’s connection to Gross’s story of risk, speed, and movement from Wall Street to Ducati.
Typography played a key role in defining tone: Life in the Fast Lane uses bold yellow emphasis against a black backdrop, symbolizing caution and energy — the same colors found on real-world road signage. Supporting details like event logistics and speaker credentials were balanced for clarity, ensuring legibility while maintaining the overall flow
