This piece was born from a college painting class where my professor encouraged me to move beyond traditional technique and start integrating my design sensibilities into my fine art. The challenge was to create something that expressed who I am as both a designer and an artist — analytical yet imaginative, structured yet freeform.
The concept centers on the duality of the mind:
The left side: represented through precise geometric shapes, clean lines, and concentric targets symbolizes logic, order, and structured thinking.
The right side: illustrated through splashes of organic color, free-flowing foliage, and expressive arrows captures the chaos and spontaneity of creativity.
At the center sits a vivid pink brain, acting as the bridge between both worlds. The arrows extending in multiple directions reflect the constant push and pull of thought, where creativity and logic converge and compete. The color palette bright greens, blues, and magentas contrasted with deep black reinforces that energetic tension.
Though the original painting version was lost, this vector recreation preserves the symbolic power of the piece, embodying that ongoing internal dialogue every artist faces: the balance between the analytical and the imaginative.
Reflection:
This work marked a turning point for me in understanding that design is a form of self-expression — not separate from art, but an extension of it. It remains one of my earliest and most personal visual explorations of identity as a creative thinker.
