Video Intro
This branding was created for my wife’s channel, The Curious Bookwyrm, a playful fusion of the classic “bookworm” and the mythic “wyrm,” an old term for dragon. The concept was built around the idea of a dragon who hoards books instead of gold, reflecting a love of reading, collecting stories, and exploring new worlds through pages.
After exploring several mascot variations, we landed on Bookley the Book Dragon, perched proudly atop a pile of well-loved books beneath the soft glow of a full moon. The illustration style balances friendly and fantastical, approachable enough for a YouTube channel, but detailed enough to feel like part of a larger mythos.
The typography evokes a storybook or fantasy novel aesthetic, tying into the literary theme while still feeling modern and versatile. For the YouTube presentation, I developed banners, profile icons, and thumbnail templates, maintaining cohesion across the brand.
While the channel was the original focus, The Curious Bookwyrm is now evolving into a book-themed merch brand that celebrates reading culture. The plan moving forward is to refine the logo for a cleaner, scalable format and expand Bookley’s world with additional dragon characters, each representing different reader personalities and genres.
Reflection:
This project blends my passion for character design, storytelling, and branding into one cohesive identity. Bookley has become more than a mascot, he’s a symbol of curiosity and imagination. I’m excited to see how this brand continues to evolve as it grows from a small BookTube channel into a full creative universe for readers and dreamers alike.
